Retweet of the Day - October 15, 2013

Game 2 of the American League Championship series offered the drama that we seek in October baseball. Trailing 5-1 in the bottom of the 8th inning with two outs and in danger of dropping their second game in a row at home, an omen of doom in a seven game series in any sport, David "Big Papi" Ortiz stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and delivered a game-tying Grand Slam off Joaquin Benoit.

Detroit Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter experienced the old "insult to injury" cliche' first hand. Hunter came inches away from robbing Ortiz but instead missed the ball, flipped over the bullpen wall in the outfield, and scraped his head. Red Sox players, almost immediately upon realizing that tere was an injured player, went over to tend to Hunter, who was able to return to the game. The police officer in the bullpen was a bit more caught up in the moment. He was seen cheering throughout the ordeal.

Today's retweet, by Sue Collins Shand (‏@SueShand) illustrates how that non-reaction by the cop played out on television:

"Notice the fat cop jumping up and down in the bullpen as Torii Hunter laid there? Way to protect and serve Bubba #haveanotherdoughnut

Maybe he just didn't see Hunter #smh.
