Retweet of the Day - February 18, 2013

Los Angeles Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss passed away this morning at the age of 80. The Hat Trick reflected, earlier today, about why this was such a profound loss for the sports world, though I doubt many people needed much convincing.

However, even the death of a legendary sports figure is not immune from humor and sarcasm. Interestingly, if Dr. Buss had any sense of humor, I am sure today's retweet, from Onion Sports Network (‏@OnionSports), would make him crack a smile in Heaven.

"I don't always die. But when I do, watching the play of Dwight Howard on my team precedes it. " Just sayin'....

Retweet of the Day - September 18, 2012

NFL Films President Steve Sabol passed away today at the age of 69. In searching for something about Sabol for today's retweet, I wanted to find something different, which is hard to do when someone dies and the format is limited to 140 characters. Enter The Onion ‏(@TheOnion).

Only the writers at the news satire website could find a way to tastefully evoke a laugh from readers during a somber moment. Ultimately, when someone beloved dies, the people who appreciated that person want to celebrate the life of that person. Who better than to do so than the late Harry Kalas, the legendary Philadelphia Phillies play-by-play man and longtime NFL Films and Inside the NFL narrator.
