Singles and Doubles

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher, former American League Cy Young Award winner, and former American League Most Valuable Player Justin Verlander has been romantically linked with swimsuit model Kate Upton in the past. It is Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition season again. While USA Today reported that Upton denied dating Verlander, first, I don't buy it and second, it is all of the connection to sports that I need to make her the subject of today's Chick Pic.

So not only does she look great in a swimsuit, but she's skilled in the water. That is an amazing back float! 3

I'll bet that if she were a pirate, swinging onto another ship, she'd meet little resistance. 4

I would have loved a coloring book with this image. I'd have no trouble staying inside the lines. I wonder if Verlander's pen ever runs. 8

Four Degrees of Separation from Ichiro Suzuki

The trade yesterday of right fielder Ichiro Suzuki to the New York Yankees is the opening salvo fired in this year's annual arms race in preparation for October. It was the news of the day in Major League Baseball. The move to the Big Apple will give Suzuki an opportunity to compete for a World Series ring. It gives the Yankees a situational hitter who will not be an easy out for any pitcher.

The Detroit Tigers are loaded with talent and have been playing up to their ability during the last month after a sluggish first two months of the season. Should the Tigers and Yankees continue to play at a high level, their meeting in the playoffs is inevitable. Colin Cowherd speculated that the Yankees brought Ichiro on board to insert into the lineup in postseason situations against a pitcher such as Detroit's Justin Verlander, last year's American League Most Valuable Player.
