Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner dove from space, 24 miles above the Earth's surface, free falling for more than four minutes and traveling toward the Earth at a peek speed on 834 miles per hour (faster than the speed of sound) before landing safely in the New Mexico desert this past Sunday. The profound combination of the science in the equipment that made the free-fall possible and the extreme testicular fortitude that it took to simply attempt such a death-defying feat should make an impact on even the hardest to impress people.
I will not break down what happened step-by-step during this incredible feat. There are infinite reports available on the Internet. Instead, I wondered, "What kind of lady does a thrill seeker like this have?" He must be a handful. Baumgartner's significant other is a lovely, athletic gymnast, model and former beauty queen named Nicole Oetl.
How do people like this meet? Clearly not "at the club" or in line a Starbucks. 1 |
She wears the "girl next door" look well, but she is far from ordinary. 2 |
Long life? Maybe for her! Not so sure Felix can take too many more 24 mile jumps. 3 |
She wears the "geek chic" look well, too. 4 |
Congratulations are in order on a number of fronts for Felix! 5 |
