Retweet of the Day - May 21, 2013

The latest buzz in the NBA rumor mill is that Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard is seriously considering testing the free agency market. While no other NBA team can offer Howard as much money for as many years as the Lakers, Howard did not exactly mesh with the Lakers' system, starting with Head Coach Mike D'Antoni. The Houston Rockets (and the income tax free state of Texas) are reported to have Howard's interest.

The Lakers were a model of dysfunction this season. They fired their Head Coach, Mike Brown, just as the season was getting underway and their current coach, D'Antoni, has been on the hot seat all season long. Reportedly, the Lakers, under the leadership of Jim Buss (son of the late Dr. Jerry Buss), flushed slam dunk opportunity to rehire eleven time NBA champion coach Phil Jackson (who led the Lakers to five championships) due to personal differences. Dysfunction junction...!

Today's retweet, from Erica B. (‏@SCbchbum), focuses on the comic-tragic Lakers season, which ended in a sweep from the playoffs in the first round by the San Antonio Spurs.

"Thought I was watching the Lakers game, but it was just a commercial for erectile dysfunction."

I don't think so.

Retweet of the Day - December 14, 2012

Former Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach and eleven time NBA champion Phil Jackson recently said in an interview that he would not return to the Lakers' bench if asked. The Lakers' season got off to a very rocky start, culminating in the firing of Mike Brown, who began this season as the Lakers' Head Coach. He was replaced by current Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni.

D'Antoni hasn't fared much better. The crisis in Laker Land came to a head when the Lakers were taken behind the woodshed and beaten savagely by the New York Knicks, a team that underachieved until this year in the opinions of many. That leads us to today's retweet, by Daryl Pippins (@DarylP22).

It's all about the Jacksons.
