Last night, Hollywood had its annual celebration. The Oscars went off without a hitch. There were quips, there was nostalgia and there was a tribute to those who passed on in the past year.

The metaphors of passing on can always extend to the sports world. The New York Knicks, a playoff team in 2013, have been an abysmal disappointment, almost to the point of disbelief. Today's retweet, by Not Bill Walton (@NotBillWalton):
