Retweet of the Day - November 13, 2013

It was a blockbuster prime-time debut for the college basketball season. University of Kentucky forward Julius Randle (24 PPG, 14 RPG), Kansas University guard Andrew Wiggins (19 PPG, 6 RPG), and Duke University forward Jabari Parker (25 PPG, 8 RPG) - all freshmen - are expected to be the top three picks in the 2014 NBA Draft (not necessarily in that order). They all made prime-time appearances on ESPN last night and put on a show for the audience.

Randle and the Wildcats fell to a veteran Michigan State Spartans team, led by senior guard Keith Appling (17 PPG, 7 RPG, 6 APG). Parker and Wiggins engaged in the Battle of the Future (as in the NBA's future) with Kansas topping Duke. College basketball has had gradually fewer headliners over the last 20 years in large part due to the best players going to the NBA after a year or less of college basketball experience. The NCAA got it right by putting the prime merchandise on display at the start of the year so that the customers (us) can get hooked in as early as possible and for as long as possible. Nice move....

Of course, ESPN's college basketball programming would not be complete without Dick Vitale. The iconic color commentator and former University of Detroit basketball coach can bring energy to the intake room at a funeral home. He didn't need a lot of help getting fired up last night. In fact, as he often does, he gets a little carried away, already putting Wiggins in the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Today's retweet, by Gustavo Fring (‏@tonedibiase) is vintage Dick:

"Did Dick V say no doubt about it Wiggins will go to the HOF?!? GTFOH"

Maybe Dickie V. was using Mr. Fring's product (for you Breaking Bad fans). Like Wiggins, Vitale seemed a little high!
