Retweet of the Day – July 16, 2013

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, has as high a profile as any college athlete. That is not necessarily a good thing. Johnny Football has been making headlines under less than ideal circumstances since winning college football’s highest individual award.

Manziel, a redshirt sophomore this season, has been seen at some high profile events at which college students are seldom seen. It was reported that Manziel stopped taking classes in person and began taking them online because of his rush of fame.  Recently, he tweeted that he could not wait to get out of College Station, Texas, the city in which Texas A&M University is located. Manziel is quickly learning that success in major college football has a price.
Yesterday, Manziel plead guilty and agreed to pay a $2,000 fine for failing to identify himself to law enforcement during a 2012 bar fight incident in College Station. Also on Monday, it was reported that Manziel left the Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux, Louisiana a day early. Manziel was late for practices/skipped drills. Maziel claimed to be ill, citing dehydration. There were also reports that the 20 year old was seen at an area bar the following day.
ESPN’s Tony Kornheiser was quoted as saying that Johnny Manziel was becoming college football’s version of teen pop star Justin Bieber, who has also had his share of recent less-than-flattering “look at me” moments. That was the inspiration for today’s retweet, by Dylan Reed (‏@DylanChiveson)

"Bigger douche bag, Johnny Manziel or Justin Bieber? Annnnd Go!"

Bieber (left) and Manziel (right). I think I'd rather be caught with hot women while dressed as Scooby Doo at a Haloween party than, well, that guy on the left.
