Retweet of the Day - January 3, 2013

Today's retweet is a knee slapper! The New England Patriots have a first round bye in the 2012 AFC Playoffs, which surprises nobody. Their odds of reaching their eighth Super Bowl in franchise history and sixth in the Tom Brady/Bill Belichick era, I would guess, is between 40% and 50%, which is pretty good.

In recent years, the Patriots have had to be as concerned with an NFC team knocking them out of the playoffs (in a manner of speaking) as with their AFC rivals. The New York Giants have beaten the Patriots twice, in dramatic fashion, in the Patriots' past two Super Bowl appearances. The Giants have twice denied Belichick from joining Hall of Fame Pittsburgh Steelers coach Chuck Knoll as the winningest Super Bowl Head Coach with four Super Bowl wins and denied Brady from tying Hall of Fame quarterbacks Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw as the winningest Super Bowl starting QBs, also with four wins.

That leads us to today's retweet by NFL Memes (@NFL_Memes)

"Eli and the Giants have been Patriots killers in the playoffs! pic.twitter.com/lAeMwDIh"

A lot of memes are ridiculous and, while amusing, not realistic. I'm not convinced Tom Terrific didn't say something like this.
