Robert Griffin, III made a huge splash in his rookie debut, thrashing the New Orleans Saints in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for over 300 yards and an efficiency rating of close to 140.
Of course, when an athlete becomes famous, his significant other becomes famous by extension. I had seen several pictures of Griffin's fiancee, Rebecca Liddicoat, going around the Internet lately. Griffin went to Baylor University, which is in Waco, Texas. If you have never been to Waco, there are fewer towns in the United States that present themselves as if the year were still 1955 and men came home to their pipe and slippers with a slice of hot apple pie after work.
While some of you may think I am exaggerating and some of you may be nodding your heads in agreement, I could not help but think of a star who captured that Pollyanna essence that so many people yearn for but no longer exists (and probably never did, except in prime time). Take a look at the next few photos. Maybe I am alone on an island in making this comparison, but no man lives in a vacuum.
