The sports fashion world shook its collective head last season when the University of Maryland debuted their Under Armour uniforms. The Twittersphere was abuzz with scorn. They looked like some type of medieval theme restaurant gladiator's outfit. How was this faux pas followed up?
Notre Dame University, perhaps the epitome of all things traditional in college football, with their trademark gold helmets, jumped the fashion shark in a manner that lets Maryland off the hook. Not that Maryland's experiment was less hideous. It is just that Notre Dame is the pillar of tradition and a pillar of the entire institution of college football.
Today's retweet is from, Erica (@sexinyc). While it is a second generation retweet (originally from @Deadspin) it is nonetheless spot on.
"RT @Deadspin: Have you seen Notre Dame's new unis? It's as if Northwestern's & W Virginia's uniforms had a Roman orgy: http://deadsp.in/NPdneu"
There is nothing "Irish" about any of these colors. And the only "Fighting" should be between Notre Dame alums and the acid-dropper who designed this monstrosity! |
